It all started on a plastic Barbie film camera back in 2001.

Grainy, random, and unfocused- my initial photos were pretty rough.

After all, a Barbie camera only got a kid so far. I was particularly obsessed with candid portraits of my family, much to everyone’s dismay. Thankfully, my mother was an artist, and wanted me to express my creativity. She never discouraged me, buying me every roll of film I needed, and then taking me to have them developed at the local drugstore. Mom never questioned my hobby or my vision, and only encouraged me to keep going.

A few Coolpix cameras later…

The summer I turned 14, I got my hands on an old Nikon DSLR and started experimenting with editing for the first time. Something other than the shutter clicked in my head, and suddenly colors weren’t just plain colors. The photos I took came alive with more depth, and I learned how to use professional lenses. Photos could be given personality and character, and I started taking photography more seriously. Visions started to form, and what was once a hobby became a new way of seeing the world.

Fast forward to 2020.

Covid took a hit on pretty much everyone, I was no exception. Just like so many, I was forced to experience a new way of living that seemed so dystopian and unreal, and the lockdown forced me to refocus. I studied film, art, and magazines for inspiration, taking online courses to learn new methods, and tailoring what I knew with what I could achieve. My art started to develop a signature, and it greatly reflected my own growth as an individual. Limits were pushed, lessons were taught, and a whole new style emerged from the chaos around me.

Growth, trial and error since 2001

HorizonCities Photography has shifted from just being my hobby, into an art form and my life’s work. Traveling across the world to shoot various clientele, I have had the privilege to capture musicians, models, and even cover large events and festivals. My work has been featured in advertising, across social media, Spotify, and art magazines. I always aim to tell stories with my photos, bring characters to life, captivate fans and audiences, and to give interesting perspectives into the future of fashion and art.
